Provider Training

Bwiti House – Moughenda Mikala’s Village, Gabon

Level 1: Psycho-Spiritual Iboga Work

Focus on working with trauma, psycho-spiritual development, self-inquiry, and the release of entrenched patterns affecting mental, emotional, and physical well-being.

Level 2: Iboga Detox Work

Training in the use of Iboga for detoxification and reset, addressing addiction and dependency through care for the body, mind, and spirit, with emphasis on safety, responsibility, and integration.

Villi Sokku is a traditionally trained Missoko Bwiti Iboga provider, having studied in Gabon under the 10th-generation Bwiti shaman, Moughenda Mikala.

Before encountering Iboga, Villi spent many years searching for healing, clarity, and meaning—both personally and through formal study and service to others. He trained in sport and health science at the University of Iceland and later graduated with honors from the Boulder College of Massage Therapy. He worked as a massage therapist, educator, and long-time advocate for human rights, supporting others while continuing to meet his own unresolved trauma.

Despite exploring many therapeutic and healing modalities, something essential remained unaddressed. Through Iboga and the Bwiti teachings, Villi encountered a form of truth and responsibility that spoke directly to the roots of his own healing. His training took place in the jungle, immersed in the Bwiti tradition, where the work is lived, practiced, and transmitted through direct experience. This training deepened his humility and respect toward Iboga—as both medicine and teacher—and shaped how he now holds this work.

For Villi, working with Iboga is not a role or technique, but a calling grounded in respect—for the Bwiti tradition, the medicine, and the people who come to it. Each ceremony is held with depth and commitment, guided by tradition and a deep intention to support an honest relationship with life and oneself.

Moughenda Mikala is a 10th-generation Missoko Bwiti shaman and Villi’s primary teacher in Iboga. Through training in Gabon, he transmitted the traditional knowledge of administering Iboga, guiding ceremony, and counseling individuals using the Bwiti teachings, where healing, responsibility, and self-honesty are inseparable.

Moughenda Mikala is also known for opening the doors of Bwiti and Iboga to Westerners, while maintaining clear boundaries around respect, discipline, and proper transmission. His teaching emphasizes humility, discernment, and the seriousness required to work with Iboga in a way that honors both the medicine and the lineage it comes from.

Bossengue

Bossengue is a highly respected ngombi (traditional Gabonese harp) player and healer within the Bwiti tradition. Through his teaching, Villi was introduced to the depth of Bwiti music as a living and essential part of the tradition and of ceremonial work. This transmission deepened his connection to Bwiti and to the role of music as guidance, structure, and support in the work.

How the Work Is Held

Guided with depth, care, and commitment — supporting an honest return to self, life, and truth.

The work at Iboga Intact is held within the Bwiti tradition, where Iboga is approached as a serious and sacred responsibility. This is not work aimed at escape or quick relief, but at meeting life honestly and fully.

Healing with Iboga is understood as a process that requires depth, presence, and commitment. The role of the provider is to hold a clear and steady container—before, during, and after ceremony—so the work can be approached with care, humility, and respect.

Preparation, readiness, and integration are considered essential parts of the process. Each retreat is held privately, allowing for focused attention, discretion, and continuity of care. The work is guided by tradition, informed by lived experience, and approached with responsibility toward the individual, the medicine, and the lineage it comes from.

Safety

At Iboga Intact, safety is central to how this work is held. Iboga is a powerful medicine, and approaching it responsibly requires proper training, deep respect for the tradition, and careful preparation. Safety is not only a matter of protocols—it is part of honoring the medicine, the Bwiti tradition, and the people who come to this work.

Before a Retreat

Medical Screening

Before joining a retreat, each participant undergoes a thorough screening process to assess both physical and psychological readiness for this work. This includes a mandatory EKG (electrocardiogram) to evaluate cardiac health and determine whether the body is fit to work with Iboga. Screening is carried out with care, discretion, and, where appropriate, in collaboration with medical professionals. Discernment and readiness are treated as central to safety and respect for all involved.

After a Retreat

Integration Support

Safety extends beyond ceremony. The work does not end when the fire goes out. Ongoing support is offered to help participants process, ground, and integrate what has emerged during retreat into daily life, supporting stability and continuity of care.
